Rome Fiumicino International Airport Leonardo da Vinci is the largest airport in Italy. The port is located in Fiumicino, approx. 30 km southwest of the center of the Italian capital. The port was officially opened in mid-January 1962. It replaced the smaller airport Rome-Ciampino, which was commissioned to operate domestic and charter flights. The Rome Fiumicino port has four terminals: T1, T2, T3 and T5. It is served by over one hundred regularly scheduled and low fare airlines. The airport is the main hub for Alitalia and Vueling Airlines, it is also a base for many other carriers, also low-cost ones.
In 2015, the airport served over 40.4 million passengers.

The airport is served by several bus lines whose services are provided by: COTRAL, SIT BUS, T.A.M. Ltd., Terravision, ATRAL-SCHIAFFINI.
COTRAL – has a bus stop in front of Terminal 2. The bus stops in Rome in the Piazza dei Cinquecento (opposite the National Museum), Roma Tiburtina, Cornelia liniia A metro station, Eur-Magliana station line B. It takes about an hour to pass. Tickets can be purchased at authorized points of sale or on board the bus.
SIT bus – the bus stop is located at the bus terminal adjacent to the exit from the arrival hall of Terminal 3. The bus stops in Rome to Termini station (Via Marsala), Vatican to Via Crescenzio n. 2. This line runs every 30 minutes every day ., and the ride takes about 55 minutes. Tickets can be purchased online or directly on board the bus.
T.A.M. Srl – the bus stop is at the exit from the arrivals hall of Terminal 3. In Rome, the bus stops at Piazzale Ostiense Station on October 12, 1492 opposite Eataly and TERMINI Via Giovanni Giolitti No. 10. It runs every day every 30 minutes, and the journey lasts approx. 45 min. Tickets can be bought on board the bus.
Terravision – the bus stop is located at the exit from the arrivals hall of Terminal 3. The bus takes you to the Termini railway station (Via Marsala). It runs every day at a frequency of 30 minutes, and the journey takes about 55 minutes. Tickets can be bought online or on board the bus.
ATRAL-SCHIAFFINI – the bus stop is located at the exit from the arrivals hall of Terminal 3. The company offers a wide range of fast and cheap connections between the airport and the Ciampino railway station and the Anagnina metro station. The bus runs daily. Tickets can be bought online or on board the bus.
Rail
Between Rome Fiumicino Airport and Termini Central Station in Rome, on average every half hour (every 15 minutes in times of major traffic), runs express trains Leonardo Express. The Leonardo Express’ journey time is approx. 35 minutes. The slower railway connection is the regional FM1 railway. The Tiburtina railway line runs every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on holidays and stops many times on the way. The FM1 driving time is about 40 minutes.
Thanks to High Speed Trenitalia you can quickly reach the most important cities in the north-east of the country, including Venice and Padua and in Central Italy, among others Bologna and Florence. Four high-speed trains, two incoming and two departing, run from / to the airport every day, connecting them with Rome, Florence, Bologna, Padova and Venice. From Fiumicino airport they depart at 11:08 and 15:08, and return to the airport at 09:52 and 13:52.
