Sri Lanka, an island nation in South Asia, lies on the island of Ceylon, separated from India by the Palk Strait. Known for its varied landscapes, it offers beautiful beaches, lush tropical forests and monuments such as the ancient ruins at Anuradhapura. Colombo, the main city, is a cultural and commercial hub. The tropical climate brings high temperatures all year round, but the best time to visit is between December and March, when the weather is dry and sunny.
